The trouble is that the tactics used by XR and other militant groups are, by their very nature, designed to create conflict and ergo, will never resolve the issues these groups claim to want resolved.

I asked XR recently why they did not support the ammendments to the agri bill as it could have directly infuluenced how food is produced at home and abroad. Interstingly they say because they are not interested in change by influencing policy and do not even propose solutions.

I have several friends who are employees of the estate and it seems generally well run and a reasonable place to work. I have heard of far worse places to work, including smaller farms. The local environment seems well managed too, at least better than it would be if the anarchists were running the show. My only connection otherwise is that my family were long term tenants in the 19th century and were given work in the hungry '40s building the infamous wall around the park. In normal times, we take part in the estate quizzes which raise funds for the various churches in the area. Having seen last year what the public can do to the beautiful Dorset landscape when let loose, I'm glad there are plenty of corners that are out of bounds. Behind so much of the current activism is facebook envy and covetousness.

East Dorset was given a special exemption under the Treaty of Utrecht, at least that's what Mrs Fred tells me.
I don't think it is a secret that they have plantations in the Caribbean. as far as I know they are employing lots of alive and well 21st century folks out there too. Life as a worker in Dorset pre 1830 wasn't exactly a bed of roses but there is no point in victimising ourselves on behalf of ancestors we never knew we had until Ancestry came along.
