have a a MF 2680 PTO wont turn off , , just after removing the fuel tank to replace a corroded spool valve pipe and am now tempted to try and fix the PTO issue .......... any thoughts on this before i get a million bolts into plastic tubs
Little brake band/shoe has worn away, if its freewheeling?
Not worth stripping for that, is it?
Consider putting a cover over the shaft when not in use, some use a small cut of pipe on a tidy bracket .........
if you follow the lever down through the cab its attached to a valve on the righthand side plate where the spool valves are that must be stuck somehow i have some if you need a new one. unless one of the clutch plates in the pto pack has broken up and jammed it in drive
remove that pipe, then remove the 8 bolts and the top link housing. this housing contains the brake so with it removed you should be able to turn the pto. you will probably find the brake surfaces scored and burnt if it has been trying to stop rotation with the pack driving.
