Massey 4355 lift pump

Hi there, I have a Massey 4355 that is failing to start . Power has been getting worse recently . Changed the fuel filter to no avail . Anyone any idea on what could be the issue ? And also how do I get into the lift pump as attached below ? There’s no actual screws to take of the top. Thanks

Is the screws not on the underside?

There is but there not a standard screw , I’ll get a photo

Stick a new 1 on it, there not too expensive

There is a gauze filter in behind that big nut, it can often be blocked, causing the issues you describe.

There is but there not a standard screw , I’ll get a photo

They don’t look like screws, they look like pegs connected the top part that have been flared out to rivet the pump together

Looks like they only want to sell new lift pumps instead of letting you replace the one way valves and gauze. Crazy situation.

A new lift pump is about £24 inc VAT . Just replace it . Newer lift pumps are throwaway unlike the old ones when you just changed the diaphragm.
Check the tringle rod which drives it has not worn down.
