Massey 4708 error code.

Afternoon all.

anyone help me with this one, Massey 4708 19’ plate.
On start up displays error E31 522168 and won’t accelerate above 1500rpm.

Dealer tells me it’s “rail pressure relief valve has opened too many times”
Dealer advises to change filters, which has been done numerous times.

This is the first time I have looked at this but the way the code reads it would suggest a “high” pressure in the rail and changing the filters won’t/hasn’t changed a thing.
Or, is it that once this fault has indeed occurred too many times, does it mean the dealer needs to reset via laptop?
Can a reset me performed through the dash?
Sounds to me like the rail PRV is stuck open for a guess.


Any help would be much appreciated.

Find the pressure sensor on the side of the engine and give it a "tap" with a hammer
Ive known them pop open and need a shock to reset them, for all the fancy name its just a ball bearing and a spring!

Turns out it needs EDT to reset the counter but appreciate your input .

I think E31 is water in the fuel, drain the filter and it should reset.
