Massey 5711S Vs 5711M Vs 5711 Global šŸ¤Æ

Hi all,

Wondering if someone could clear up the main differences on these for me? Asked dealer for a quote for an S last year, got a quote instead for a global (turns out they had a yard full), never did get an S quote despite asking again and at the time he'd never heard of the M! As I understand it the M is the replacement for the global but I'm a bit confused as to why both seem to be available? I would just go for an S but they are a little taller and would be borderline on getting in some of our buildings. Theres obviously the cost side too. Dealer did tell me that the D4 globals are made in France is that right? Thought they were made in China? On the engines are they different between the S and the global/M or made in different parts of the world? Not wanting something that's going to give reliability issues so want to better understand how/why globals are cheaper. Don't want something with a chocolate gearbox!

Cheers,
David

The MF5700 is stage 4 engine and this model finished production last year. It has been replaced with the MF5700M which has a stage 5 engine.
The MF 5700S was again a stage 4 engine and finished production and this model is replaced with the 5S. I would suggest the dealer couldn't get a price as MF sold out of the 5700S and only had dealer stock left.

Both models have the same 4.4l engine and similar Dyna 4 transmission (Housing is different I believe). Also all Dyna 4 is made in France

We had a global tractor and it was genuinely really, really badly made. Iā€™m not talking about a cheap interior, but very poor quality steel throughout, poor hydraulic hoses, poor electrical connections, poor bearings everywhere. Literally everything on it built as cheaply as possible and the outcome was dire reliability.

You're not the first person to say that which is my concern. Might be the 'cheaper' option but still a lot of money!

We paid 43k for a 5711 global with loader and dyna 4. Had a back brake actuator seize on after 100 hours, I would say they are definitely cheaply built, not sure I would buy it again to be honest.

Not unusual to have a few small problems with a new machine. Hope the dealer soon sorted it for you. Has it done many hours now and have they been trouble-free?

I've got a Global too, had a 5709m on demo....even worse built than the Global , thought my son would be mad for it.....No first thing he picked up on was the quality of finish, Massey now way down my list for a replacement tractor. Dealer Brilliant though.

Hi all. Has anyone on here had a problem internally in the gearbox with a 5711 global manual 12 x 12 gearbox?. With regards to the power shuttle being very snatchy, had dealer mechanic out to it and they said there is a problem internally in the power shuttle box.
