Are there any differences between a 7616 and 7618 other than power (and stickers on the bonnet)? I know 6475 and 6480 had different front axles for example.

Very similar differences to the 6475 & 6480 you mention. Certainly a lighter front axle
Our 7616 had the same axle as a 7618, not sure whether it was optional or not
Did it have 10 stud front hubs? Every 16 I've seen has 8 stud hubs
