I was thinking the sameDon't see how the PUH is operated........ No unlocking lever?
Hi SMID,1970 build year started at 653722 and ended at 656010 so it could any where near near the middle if production was spread over the whole year ,their is a date code in the engine number damned if I can remember how to read it. EDIT, FHG is multi power , heavy duty front axle and auxiliary hyd pump
A wild guess is that P & B stands for the dealer Peacock and Binnington which was once a big MF agri and industrial plant dealer and is still a major AGCO dealer today. https://peacock.co.ukHi SMID,
I have a 168 with PFBHG at the end of the serial number. I wonder what P & B stand for.
also a 185 with BHM.
cheers
Pick up hitch /drawbar is wrong for this model. It should have had the old style MF ‘T- shaped’ attachment to operate and lock the push.
IMHO the 188 was a heap of crap. The worst tractor I’d ever driven after an IH B450.Can any1 explain what the main differences are between a mf 185 and 188?
Really? I really liked them. Only thing was that the IPTO and auxiliary pumps were not the most reliable and Multi-Power and the clutch pedal were an acquired taste. Must say that, apart from the engines, Ford's 5000 was a far more robust machine.IMHO the 188 was a heap of crap. The worst tractor I’d ever driven after an IH B450.
UK build tractors P ,ipto F, multipower pump B, high clearance transmisson H, heavy front axle, G, auxiliary hyd pump. That would be a fairly common spec on a multi power 168 at the time . As for the 185 ,B high clearance, H heavy front axle M, 8 speed box ,again pretty much standard spec for a 185 . They were our front line tractors through the mid 70s.Hi SMID,
