I've got 5 spare disc units if you want some spares

Thanks for the offer, I've got plenty of spare discs and hubs (with worn out bearings) that came with the drill that have plenty in them for a while, even spare coulter arms too all I need are a few bearings which I'll get on the ebay link you posted. Your advice has saved me a good deal of time and money so thanks 👍

I understand you probably need the loader on to fill it but it will massively increase compaction!

It's not ideal at all, kind of best of a bad bunch in terms of my options. Other option was handball the seed in but I didn't fancy doing that for 2 tonne in the interests of time. Hopefully next year will involve a separate loader of some kind.

Tip for winter storage, take off all the spouts as mice love to eat them and then also gnaw on the fluted rollers.
We have an old metal dustbin we put them in

Thanks, yes I was planning on that, just getting the last bits emptied then they'll all go in a box in the shed.

What a good positive read this thread was. Nice one 👍🏻
Worked out well in the end, who says you need triple digit horsepower for a 4m drill?! I did quite enjoy watching my neighbour over the hedge with his mounted 3m yellow drill on a 250hp tractor, thinking about how there are so many ways to achieve the same simple thing.

You need duals on the tractor
Helps with the loader too, more stable and weight on rear axle
Saves deisel, nearly as good as 4wd

We have got some cage wheels in the hedge but I just ran out of time to get them ready. Add it to the list for next year. To be fair though I didn't struggle for grip at any point, the bigger issue was that there is a problem with the tractor meaning I'm getting some clutch slip, again one to fix over winter. In terms of diesel I think I've used in total about 25l/ha (10l/ac) to establish the crop, including cultivations and drilling, so not bad all in all.

Another little thing just be careful with the pin on the transport wheels that goes through the holes in the ram. Make sure it’s always out or in before pressurising the ram or it can bend the brackets on the ram. Just had to straighten and reweld ours as over the years it had got progressively more bent
