Ive got a MF 3080 autotronic that wont go into 4th gear, i fixed the issue with the nut at the front of the gearbox a few months ago and completly stripped out the gear box replaced a cog that had stripped teeth and put it all back together, A and B range aswell as 1,2,3 all work perfectly but whenever you try and put it in 4th it just grinds when you let the clutch out, ive taken the selector cover off and had a look inside i cant see anything wrong, anyone got any ideas or experience with this problem.
Cheers

if you are lucky the fork is worn . but it could be the two top hat bearings that the gear runs on one has colapsed so the gear is running on a angle so the selector ring cant engage . hopefully not that because you will need a new gear and front shaft

Worn fork or may have a slight bend in it, are the linkages from the gearstick to the box good or waliping about.
Theres not a hell of a lot of play but it is a bit sloppy i tightened up the grub screw on the fork that comes out of the selector cover but where the fork goes over the synchro theres a decent bit of sloppyness but it seems that the selector ring goes all the way over so im confused why its grinding

try selecting 4th gear with the tractor engine not running dip the clutch you may need to have someone push it or tow you a little if it goes in you may have a worn synchro ring.
