Massey Ferguson 342 hydraulics

Hi, I’m a new member too TFF and any help or advice would be much appreciated.
I have a Massey Ferguson 342 and I’ve recently bought a tanco autowrap trailed bale wrapper. It is run off the hydraulics however this is the first time I’ve used them before and I’m not sure how they work. There are four spool valves on the back and so far I’ve used the top left and bottom left however nothing appears to be happening? Any help to how they work would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

i guess you have 2 spools and 4 outlets. you will have a lever for each in the cab. these move in both directions and give oil to the top or bottom outlet depending on which way you move the lever. (iirc the rh lever works the lh spool and vice versa) there will be a tap on each valve and to get pressure from all connections these will need to be screwed in. if you still get no pressure try engaging the combined flow lever. if you are needing a flow and return for your tanco the plug the two pipes into the couplers on one spool then tie the relevant lever in the one or the other position. post some pictures of your levers if you're not sure what lever is what.

Yes there’s one lever in the cab that either works the link arms or I believe the 4 outlets. I’ve tried both ways and nothing seems to work. I do have the front loader on. Would this make a difference?
Have you tryed the lever in the cab both ways ,,

As Mfandy said ,theres two levers by your right knee ,these control the spool outlets ,,the quadrant controls the lift arms on older mf tractors ,the trailer tipping pipe ,put some pictures on of how you have pluged the wrapper pipes in and one inside the cab.
If you have the loader on ,the oil flow for that is tee,d into the spool lines and it is prioritising the oil flow

Thank you, I will post some photos later on. The loader is on so apparently the oil flow is prioritised to that so would that need the pipes removing?

As I suspected ,loader has been T d into the spools and looks like a diy job .
Take the loader of the tractor ,then you will have the oil flow for the wrapper ,,plug into either of the spool banks and use which ever of the two levers ,,if you planning to move bales and wrap them its not going to work as you cant use the loader while the wrapper is on and vice versa

Standard way of connecting an MF loader, I've never seen one done any other way. Dead ending any of the loader rams will send oil to the wrapper or anything else that's plugged into the spool valves. Adding a tap to the loader lift pipe might make things easier. We always ran wrappers with a free flow return but I've no idea where this should be connected on an MF.

The free flow return is on the side of the hydraulic top cover. You need to remove a allen plug and fit the return. Just can not remember which side.
