Massey Ferguson 390 loader

That’s an 815 loader? Is the bale spike bracket made like that to make up for lack of crowd travel? That’s another area I was hoping to get an improvement on.
I'm not sure what model it is 8something, probably 815, I use it occasionally, it's not mine, that is the only attachment that came with it, there is plenty of crowd angle so I don't think the brackets need to be like that
It's not much of a loader, no better than a 80

Plenty of crowd angle on ours, our old 880 and the 80 before that got so worn you couldn't stop prongs of muck fork digging in when clearing field middens. In part I'd disagree with multi power, whilst not a patch on a quicke, stoll, trima etc a quick hitch, double acting lift rams , decent crowd angle are improvements on older mf loaders. Infact changing ours was worth it just so I dont have to put up with all the clanking and banging the bars at the front used to do! In answer to the original poster I think a Faucheux f30 would be an improvement, but probably seeing as it's not euro brackets maybe cheap enough?

That looks very like a Trima loader to me who now are owned by Quickie

James loaders had hydraulic stabilizers already in 1980's. Mine is without them and very simple loader, but I like it. Easy to see pallet fork tips etc.

Googled for that 885, don't look so bad to me:

Let's be positive: Brackets can be removed piece by piece, if necessary for maintenance. Lift rams could be changed to dual acting. The new ones could be possibly longer to get larger movement? The arms could be made shorter.

Is the headstock on that self levelling?

That is what annoys me most about the 815. Sometimes I have to get off the tractor to check the bucket is flat to the ground. Then as above if the brackets are worn, the tip digs in and the bucket follows and I end up digging a hole.

Our 885 had a different quick hitch to the one in the video, the swivel link that the bucket ram was attached to was changed for a modified one as the dump angle of the bucket was useless it did improve it a little but still left a lot to be desired. Just the sight of that video makes my blood boil between it and the steering on the 390 it wasn't a good purchase. Never really found out the reason for the stiff steering think they sorted it out on the next updated model.

On James? Not any more. I changed the whole valve cause cables were sticking and suspected, that the valve was leaking. I never used self leveling. I dig those holes often too, but i think it's up to bucket angle and leveling don't help much. Fortunately ground is frozen part of the year. Could be some pointer for the bucket angle, would help a bit.

Yes ours is a different quick hitch, I believe it was massey Ferguson’s own quick hitch designed for the 885 loader, the locking system is a very poor set up and now that it’s a bit worn can burst out.

I modified my 880 loader last year so that I could fit a euro 8 headstock, the old massey linkage was appalling, and use pull on an angle, so I modified the arms to pull directly inline with the loader frame.

Ok, I confused floating and self leveling, some other feature too modern for me to understand.

You can buy brackets no problems

Edit, I'm assuming 80 and 880 brackets are the same
That would too easy , the back pins are wider apart ,I kept a set of 80 brackets thinking they,d handy ... so they were after they were cut to bits and modified. may be at crossed purposes here it was the loader brackets on the tractor I meant.

Ha yes I know they, LOOK similar, but are not the same, but I'm meaning the brackets to go on the attachment
