We have a MF 6480 with a perkins engine. We are looking for somewhere that will provide new/recon injectors for it. Has anyone got any suggestions as AGCO ones are £750 a shot.

I’m no mechanic but I don’t was told you need to do the pump at the same time, IIRC that’s where the problem with the injectors stems from, was told better part of 10k job with labour from an independent mechanicWe have a MF 6480 with a perkins engine. Mine with recon stuff from merlinIf it's a T3 Sisu, they will be Bosch, and I had a set checked, and a couple were rebuilt for about £160 ea, because they were just outside parameters.
No Idea your problem, but be absolutely certain it's not the common rail pressure relief valve, first. They are not expensive to just fit one.
Merlin Diesel.
Injectors just go to leak off excessively causing starting low pressure issuesI’m no mechanic but I don’t was told you need to do the pump at the same time, IIRC that’s where the problem with the injectors stems from, was told better part of 10k job with labour from an independent mechanic
Thanks mate.@gooseman … I’ve moved your post(s) to the “machinery” forum as it’s more appropriate here rather than Agricultural Matters
Thanks for that I was told that no one would be able to recon them and the local diesel engineers backed that up as well. Whereabouts are Merlin? Appreciate your comments mate.Did

About 2k pump n Injectors
I had this very same issue. The low rail pressure was caused by the injectors leaking. We could always start it but sometimes would use the battery charger just to boost the starter while kranking it over.It seems from the comments there is probably a low rail pressure issue or a Common Rail Pressure Relef Valve fault. If the rail pressure is indeed low, as a temp fix while we are potato harvesting, does anyone know if there is a way of "Tricking" the pressure sensor into thinking there is higher pressure in the rail thus enabling the injectors to recieve fuel and enabling starting. The tractor sounds really sweet when running but this would be a temp fix, to stop having to snuff it with easy start and leave running all day.
Weve just put one injector in ours, local mechanic said if easy start helps it starts its usually and injector problem, they just chuck a full set in usually, brother then measured how much fuel each injector was leaking back, one was way way to much others were they should be, put one reckon injector in it at about £330, starts on half a turn now.It seems from the comments there is probably a low rail pressure issue or a Common Rail Pressure Relef Valve fault. Yes it wont start without easy start then runs as sweet as can be. Even if you stop it and try and start seconds after stopping it wont go without the snuff. Is it hard to start?
Lots.of winding over?
That stuff is seriously bad news, we had a 290 addicted to it some years ago, eventually a con rod came out the side of the block, it’ll be cheaper to get the problem sorted sooner rather than laterYes it wont start without easy start then runs as sweet as can be.
