Hi folks.
Looking for more advice again please. I've recently bought an old mf70 drum mower. Both skid plates are worn through and need replacing. Has any of you ever had to source some or make some? Are they easy to replace etc? Thanks in advance Jed

These things hail from the mid 1970's so they are a bit long in the tooth now to say the least. Top drive with an unique bottom support between the drums.

I imagine that many parts are now almost impossible to source from original suppliers. That means that there are three choices if original are just not in stock.
1. Scrap it.
2. Source parts or complete suitable machine from dealer or from a scrap heap.
3. Buy one parts that are roughly of the same dimensions from something like a Fahr or PZ/Kuhn drum mower and get an engineer to adapt it to fit and work.

It's been many years since I used a 70 but from memory I wouldn't have thought it too difficult to make new skids from flat plate.. they're not like a Fahr for example, which runs on saucers which spin when you lift the mower, and if you tried to patch them up they would need to be balanced somehow otherwise they would cause huge vibrations..
Does your mower still have its plastic curtains all over it? I've seen a 70 used 'naked' but I wouldn't be that brave, tractor windows are expensive!
