Thanks for that, I will see if I can find a workshop manual now.

Did the 203 have the kidney shaped power steering pump?

And of course, any one know how I can release the diff lock?

Cheers

Will the internal circular rod, move with a bar shoved in the slot, hinged on the casing?
If you got it to move a little with the help of some WD40/diesel ........
Just dont move it to far or it will be stuck with the diff lock in .......

The oil drum in beside the front pump, oil separator, lets the sump vapor away, maybe?

Sorry about that, didn't realize you had everything freed out, yes best to rock the wheel back and forward to knock it back out
Or take it for a run and tip one brake pedal ....

If it is seized on the shaft a little bit of heat but there is a seal on the shaft to so its not a good idea.
Ive used a pair of vice grips before clamp them on and hit them its a bit rough but gets the shaft moving back and forth

Not had a chance to run it up yet, but this is what the diff lock operating rod and spring look like. Is this correct, or should it sit flush with the axle casing?

Not a 100% sure on your tractor but on the later ones that shaft is connected to a selector on its inner end . The selector is held in place on the shaft by a roll pin, can you see far enough in to see if this is the case and if so is the selector moving with the shaft. Another thing to check is the circlip which holds against the spring in its correct position on the shaft.

The top hat should be back upagainst the casting, the difflock will be partially engaged i did one of these on saturday the spring is under pressure to release difflock off,

I have been playing with it this afternoon. I have raised the right wheel off the ground and rocked it back and forward to see if it releases, but no joy.

The spring is under pressure and the shaft requires a fair bit of pressure to push it to the fully engaged position, however when released it returns to this position.

I have wedged it in the locked position and run some emery cloth around the shaft to remove any burrs etc. that could have been stopping it returning to the unlocked position, without any change.

Finally I placed a set of mole grips on the end of the shaft and tried to hammer it out to the fully unlocked position, again without any luck.

Any tricks of the trade I have missed?

Cheers

If you put a long flat bar (like a chisel end) in the slot, it will hinge on the casing so you can lever it out, as I explained earlier (well tried to explain) ............ Build the pivot point up with a bit of timber if needed, just be careful not to break anything.

Does that help ..........

Mursal, I have tried that, but without success, will try to make a better slot on the shaft and improvise a longer lever tomorrow. May also try to stuff rags into the brake housing and put some more oil onto the shaft overnight, hopefully missing the brakes.

Think there may be a drain hole/slot on the bottom of the brake casing, if its not blocked.
Best leave the slot as it is, change the bar to fit .............. (y)
