Got a repaired hex stub shaft that is going to be welded into the end of the damaged roller to keep us going until we get a replacement. Manners have them but not delivered until Wednesday. Day trip north perhaps 🤔
My experience of welding these in was disastrous last possible ten minutes as you can never get them square.
Always keep a spare on hand. You can get them made up by an engineer far cheaper than MF will supply for..
Never, never runs your belts too tight!
We had a disastrous start with an 865 which was bought a year old. The farmer had dissasembled at the end of the season to prevent rat damage. The MF dealers had virtually no experience , having been only recently awarded dealership and the machine was delivered with nice tight belts. Ran really well for about 500 acres then the fun started!
The end of that season was a total nightmare as bearings and shafts failed one after another.
Thankfully the next season they took on a fitter who knew these things from top to bottom and he taught me the ins and outs.
Another tip, the wooden boards can be made your selves from a sheet of oil tempered ply, i think there is probably sufficient in one sheet to make 20-30 simple job witha jig saw. And an old one as a pattern .
Hell of a good header when working well
