Massey Rear Wiper Broken

My rear wiper has stopped working for some reason.

The switch lights up (so I assume the fuse it good but will check it tomorrow to be sure). When I disconnect the motor at the plug on the rear windscreen the switch light goes out.

Can I test the wiring at the motor end? It has a plug with 4 wires (red, black, green, yellow). Before I blindly assume red/black are power, I thought I better ask what is what.

Can anyone advise what/how to test please?

Wow! Thank you.

I’ll check the fuse tomorrow.

I guess I need to check power between pins 1 and 4 first?
Can I power probe pins 2 and 3 to rule the switch out?

I guess if that’s no help then is it a faulty motor?

Yeah make sure you have power and earth.

Make sure the wires haven't broken on the motor.
There's a small plate where they connect onto the motor remove this to check.

Just been to check this again.

Fuse is fine. 👍

My pins don’t seem to match your diagram strangely.

As I understand it, according to the wiring diagram…

Pin one (top left with clip upwards) is green wire.
Pin two is (bottom left) is black
Pin three (top right) is yellow
Pin four (bottom right) is red

Yellow always has 12v
Red is switched 12v
Neither black or green seem to have earth or power.

It will be either the contacts in the motor wheelbox that have got gummed up or failed or the motor with stuck or worn brushes.

Take the 4 screws out of the black cover and carefully have a look in at the contacts in there

The other option is you just wire the motor direct to the switched live.

It'll no longer self park but it will work.

I’ve had the wires break from all of the window opening and shutting. They go the cab side of the plug, so check all 4 wires have continuity or a power signal.

You would imagine the source of the earth is faulty then or as someone said wire is broken in loom on earth
