MasseyFerguson Power Steering problems (MF65/203)

Well here we go again, seeking advice from the finest brains on the planet.

This time is is the power steering on my new (to me) MF203. I have included the MF65 in the title, as some of the system is the same.

When purchased, the steering rams were disconnected, the reservoir bypassed and not surprisingly, power steering not working.

Without a manual or other reference, I connected the resevoir to the pump and filled the system, initially this seemed to be offering some assistance, but soom the fluid was being forced out of the resevoir cap, (soaking a friend who was assisting! Well worth the lost fluid for the laugh, Sorry Pat!)

I have now recieved a copy of the workshop manual and can start a more structured approach to the problem.

Firstly, the manual shows three pipes from the resevoir to pump and steering box pump. I only seem to have fittings for two.

Then the pump seems to be different from the one in the drawings. Is this the correct pump?

Weather improving slightly, so off to investigate more.

The pump? The ram arrangement is for the 203 and is different to the 65. Or is the whole system the same as the 135?
Pictures of the whole set up please

Possibly a seal is leaking internally either on rams,
Is there an adjustable valve on this setup

There is a valve on the steering box from memory check this is connected

The pump in your photo is not the same as ours (assuming my memory is ok)
The rear axle is the only bit that's the same as 65

A bit of detective work required to identify the correct item, no point in trying to fix it, if it is not even the correct parts. Any ideas where I can get a parts book for a MF203?

Closest is Hamilton brothers then Reekie ltd. Any knowledge on who is best?

Today I have managed to get a good look at the reservoir and it does have three connections, my problem now is what pipe goes to what connection.

The diagram in my first post shows both pipes from the pump going to the reservoir and the third pipe from the reservoir going to the box.

So I presume the high pressure from the pump gose to the reservoir and straight onto the steering box, the thire pipe will be a low pressure return to the pump. The two high pressure pipes will (I Presume) both go via the fitting at the bottom of the reservoir and the plain fitting higher up the reservoir will be the return.

Todays question, is the fitting that the high pressure pipes go through one way? Does it matter which way the pipes are connected? If it does, how can I tell which is which?

I am now more than ever convinced I have the wrong power steering pump, as the pressure line from my pump goes to the steering box and not the reservoir. It has been mucked about with in the past and I am unsure what belongs where.

Does anyone else have a 203, if so could you share some photos of the box and pipe runs?

Cheers

My dad has one, but it's 20 miles away, I might be over there on Monday, if so I will get plenty of photos

That would be great, many thanks. I have now bypassed the reservoir, as it eas when I bought it, filled up and am relying on the small reservoir in the pump. Not working, but have not yet adjusted the control valve on the column.
Wondering if this is how a 135 of similar was set up?
