No worries, if you have any doubts about the alternator charging, we can wire up a simple circuit to test it, then you know where you stand. But see how you go first ...............

Thanks
Just one further observation when running voltage on 2 large wires in plug stay the same as stopped but voltage on alternative connection (unused connection covered with plastic cover rises to 15v could I try moving large wires from plug onto this point (this is where wires are connected on a 390 I have ? Wondering if there's a fault on the 2pins in plug

Sorry didn't catch that last post until now ...................
Yes do that, sounds as though the large push-ons have a problem.
But keep in mind the spade terminals they are pushed onto are the same as the one with the plastic cover, just connected inside. As far as I know.
Just check that the one going to 15Volts has a B+ or the like symbol beside it, or double check on the other tractor
If you have a problem with the output its more likely in the black plastic push-on block.
You might wonder why two large wires on goes to the starter and the other to somewhere like the fusebox so that one wire isn't doing all the work.

So clean / tighten both so there a neat fit on the spades sticking out of the alternator....................
And have a shifty round the large starter battery lead that there's no broken wires. the other end of the two in the black plastic.
