Master dryer unloading options

I have a 12t Master dryer, to unload it you rotate the top shoot away from the hopper which must open a diverter flap I guess allowing the corn to flow down the shoot rather than back into the drying tub. We empty directly into a lorry whenever possible, if not then into a trailer and moved into the dry store.

I would like to keep the dryer set up, unfortunately it’s not possible to site it so it empties directly into store, and build a roof over it. The problem being the columns of the roof would stop the unloading shoot rotating.

Can the shoot diverter be made into a manual operation so the shoot can be left rotated out?

There is a weighted flap which opens when the chute is at 90degrees to the drier body and stops the corn recirculating and sends it down the slope.
When the chute is rotated over the intake hopper the steel flap weight runs up over an arch closing off the chute.
I am considering making some sort of pully system or rig up an electric servo to open and close the flap exactly like you want to do.
Haven‘t had much time to fiddle about yet as drier is new to me but doesn’t look that difficult to fettle something to suit.
it might be worth asking Masters what they suggest, they are very helpful.

I think on a pto one when you swivel the spout 90degrees there’s just a opening to let grain run down the spout
you could shorten it to go past your beam and have another piece of spout fastened to the shed to extend it
hope that makes sense

We had the same problem, as suggested above we tried leaving the chute over to the side and opening the flap in the middle of the chute using a rope and pulleys. Didn't have any success with it though, the barley just built up at one side of the dryer and over flowed. I suppose it would have worked with half loads!

We ended up building a scaffold next to the drier so we could push the chute round and aim it into a spout we bolted to the shed roof - trying to come up with something a bit better for next year though cos it was a PITA!

Buy a Mecmar, has shute each side, lift the control rod off its latch and empty either or both sides, mine is near a shed when set up so I can choose shed or trailer on the otherside

Does it empty twice as fast with both open? Find ours slow to empty
Not sure, only ever use one at a time!, it might a bit as you can see some falling back, but that does not mean it would go out the other shute if open, I have a pipe on one side into the shed, originally it had a slight bend fitted, that used to collect condensation and really slow the flow until it self cleaned... which was when the drier was nearly empty!

The 12 ton Masters I hired just had a rope to open/ close the shute ( it stayed in the same place. ) It could surely be retrofitted. Just remember to close it again before starting the next batch:X3:
