Mastits in sheep!!

Two ewes now bags right come weaning last year, lambed down now each one quaters!! One triplet and one twin....anyone els having problems? Ewes been kept clean, haylage ad lib and small amount of cake! Nothing more fustrating

Got that right, and you do by the book and sh!t goes wrong, you see sheep full of scab rough etc and those guy never seem to get problems!! Grrr

I had a run of mules with blocked teats. All twins or triplets. So frustrating!

Or do they just not notice the problems if they don't care for them as you are? Just have the odd ewe that loses a lamb perhaps?:scratchhead:

If you're messing about making sure that every ewe has two good quarters that a lamb can suckle, you're going to find more problems than someone who doesn't look.;)

Probably in my case! With a mountain flock I don't discover them until shearing time anyway!!
I normally get one every few years out of 500. Last year I had 4 for some reason. Not worrying, just one of those things I guess.

Bought two pedigree texels just before Christmas - first had ring womb and had a csection with two live lambs. Then had little milk. Second ewe lambed two weeks ago and found her with mastitis on one side this morning on early check. Sometimes wonder why I bother !

Nothing worse espesially when messing about with pedigrees!! Had a ped beltex go down with listeria week ago caught her early enough to save her fingers crossed she lambs right now!!!

On another note.....anyone use tubes when drying ewes off? More the pedigree breeders really?
