Matbro TR250-110 replacement

Our poor old Matbro is feeling her age, other than the usual oil leaks etc today it has lost hydraulic pressure and become even slower than usual. I have a nasty suspicion that the pump is past its best. I have found that although not in stock it can be obtained from White House products for a relatively reasonable £1000 ish. My plan will be to repair the Matbro and stand it down to a more part time role. My quandary is what to replace it with. We don’t want to spend 60+k and aren’t fussed about it being too shiny. I just want a reliable pivot steer telescopic loader with preferably less than 6000 hours. We have a JCB dealer relatively close and obviously being in France Manitou are popular (but pivot steer is very rare) also a Deici dealer in the department but doubt a second hand one would be available and new is out of our sensible new price range. I liked the John Deere 3800 when they were made but I guess they are now nearly as ancient as my old Matbro. Thoughts please!

Jcb 320 will be the easiest to get a hold of but if you can find a good jd3800 they were good machines, personally I would keep clear of manitou, should be a few matbros still kicking about if you can find 1 that’s been looked after

tbh i have job tm270 and would find it very hard to replace i think id have to downgrade to a side boom as pivot's are sooo expensive to buy even 5th hand

if you could possibly wean yourself off pivot steer, your job in finding a suitable cost effective replacement would be easy, esp living in France. Is it therefore essential you need pivot steer?

I am afraid that having gone from side boom to centre pivot I would find it very hard to go back. I would probably prefer going for a small shovel rather than a side boom

how much would it cost to rebuild your matbro to make it last another 7-8yrs? a possibility given that there aren't that many bespoke parts to it that cant be repaired with a competent welder armed with new bushes? In the mean time buy a cheap old Manitou to use when your Matbro is out of action and sell for similar money after?

That is kind of the plan. I will repair it but thought perhaps an updated machine would be sensible.

If i was in the market for a pivot steer it would be my first choice.

We probably need @ACEngineering on the case. You could look at one of the 4ws centre cabbed Kramers or similar?

Not really sure i can add anything to this thread imo, other than i do buy of white house from time to time BUT i would never buy that particular pump off them! got involved with one they supplied years ago to customer and it was faulty, was returned twice and they would not admit there was a problem with it, i wasted days messing about on that job in the end customer got refund but they wouldn't admit it was faulty. i replaced it with one from my normal supplier and it worked perfectly and 14 years on its still working fine.
