In general I do 3 doses on winter crops and 2 on spring.
Wheat gets 200 max for a yield of 9t/ha max, depending on rainfall on our light soil. I go in 3 equal splits with the 1st as soon as I can get on within the NVZ rules, 2nd dose about GS30 and 3rd dose when I have time but generally around GS31-32 timing.
Rye gets 3 doses to a max of 150 at roughly the same timings.
I am using some limus to see what happens as it has had positive effects in potato trials (different crop I know).
Am I giving up N efficiency on the wheat by not hanging off until post T1 spray with the final 3rd, its all feed wheat so not aiming at getting protein in the grain.
In general yields are limited by moisture from May to July, so I could in theory go to 180 or 190 on the wheat just now and if we get plenty of rain in May I could add another 20kg split between the T2 and T3 sprays but would 40L/ha UAN mixed in 150L/ha water and the other chems cause scorch at that stage? Or do I just stick with what I've always done and go about 190 to 200 depending on field history?
Generally I've finished them off about the T1 time as after April we get busy spraying root crops (T1 here will be late april/early may).
