Maxx energy tubs

Just wondering how people are getting on with these this season,
I have just bought my ewes home on Thursday and put out 4 80kg tubs out with them (260 ewes) . According to my calculations with the recommended daily intake they should have lasted about 2 weeks. They were pretty much gone by Saturday morning so less than 24hrs. Obviously I will be on to rumenco today but just interested in others experience.

They've ate more than a kilo a day? Can't see how it would be possible. We've had no issues, they're as long lasting as crystalix. Sure someone hasn't swiped yours and left some empties?

Yes I have the rest of the pallet, don't want to put them out as a waste of time and sheep are sh#tting through the eye of a needle now.
Spoken to the rumenco rep this morning and he is looking into it.

I've used all sorts of energy buckets and find that my ewes treat them like toffee, once they get a taste for it they won't leave it alone. If I don't introduce something I end up with TLD. I find it's sometimes cheaper to feed a small amount of hard feed, at least you can have a better idea of how much ewes are eating.

I`m resisting the urge to find this ^^^^ amusing (the picture of a rep looking through a sh#tty eye of a needle), but there must be something wrong with that batch if you`ve used them before without any trouble. It`s far from funny when something upsets them when they`re near lambing - bound to say I`m not a fan of licks, etc BUT they are so much easier to feed compared to concentrates so I can see the attraction, especially with big batches of ewes.

I’ve found ewes have gone through the 2 blocks I use far quicker this year than previous years. Mineral blocks are a good barometer of the fields TE and sheep TE levels. We get some fields they hammer through them and the field next door, same ewes just split half 1 field and half the other and 1 field is renowned for going through 3 times the amount of blocks in a 6 week period. I do wonder how much the droughts over the last few years have taken out of the land and sheep.
