When is it you're back at school?Maxxum is favourite just now! followed my a 3120 with a 40 series coming last
what one would you get and why?
bet your getting fed up with me!
of till the 5thWhen is it you're back at school?
You've been off too long already
They all have their good and bad points
Be a 40 series for me though
Nae surprise there then
The 40s have a wider choice of specification for example you could get a 7840 SLDP Turbo which would have the performance of a 3120 but without the electronics
You'd need an 83 to match the 5150 though
Blue is best obviously ......but....but.... we're now entering the era of electrics and error codes. Despite all the waffle on here from those claiming electrics give no bother ( mainly from those who only keep their new tractors 3 years and move them on).
If it's a hobby tractor to do up and restore, I think you were on the right track on the original thread with a 956 / 7810 / 3050 etc.
That's why I said an SLDP they're not so prone to error codesBlue is best obviously ......but....but.... we're now entering the era of electrics and error codes. Yes.@cfr1964 and @7610 super q are they the most basic gearboxes? sle the most advanced?
what are the lift controls like? better then a maxxum?
is there any difference between the 7840 and 8340 except the turbo?Yes.
i don't think soits not me anyway dad seems to be going madI'll log on tomorrow morning and there will be a new thread, "fendt 1050 vs quad trac vs challenger"
8340 has a longer stroke engine 5' against 4.4' in 7840is there any difference between the 7840 and 8340 except the turbo?
7.5 ltrs as apposed to 6.5, maybe other differences too......is there any difference between the 7840 and 8340 except the turbo?
Oh the old dropped valve chestnut........ well it may be an issue in his little world but not in mine. I've owned power star engines tractors for 17 years and not had the need to see inside one yet. Had to rebuild the engine on the '16' we had though. After the head gasket suffered from a nasty bout of Johndeereitus! That's why I said an SLDP they're not so prone to error codes
And you get a Powerstar plus a shuttle gearbox with a good choice of ratios and a nice cab without many whining noises from underneath
Oh and just to be clear @Joe S , dropped Powerstar valves exist more in one man's imagination than they do in reality
