I told Clive from the start that there wouldn't be many mugs daft enough to buy a badge engineered Nissan at almost twice the price. I've been proven correct.
Only 16,000 were sold worldwide last year. This compares with around 51,000 sales of Ford Ranger during 2018 in Europe alone. Probably as many again for the rest of the world even excluding N. America where it has recently been introduced.
I'm rather surprised that VW claim to have shifted nearly 80,000 Amorak last year worldwide.

They look shocking from the outside and it looks like a 5 year old kid did the interior design and the price was mental, if you wanted to show you had money to burn better of having a fire with the notes and posting it on youtube

The concept designs shown at shows well before launch showed so much promise, but what did they actually launch? A barely disguised and mechanically unaltered Navara. Oh dear!

If they has used the Mercedes automatic and full time four wheel drive transfer box across the range from the beginning, they might have stood a sporting chance, but to try and sell a fairly basic pickup at a substantial premium price and through their sparse Commercial Vehicle dealerships, mostly located on less salubrious industrial estates, was a sales disaster begging to happen.

Yes the Amarok is to be discontinued in Europe as well as the X-Class, but for very different reasons. It strikes me that the Amarok hasn't been built in Germany for all that long, but the factory is going to make electric vans instead.
The reason is, apparently, the next emission step in September which is also killing off all Volvo Diesel engine production. VW will probably still produce diesels but they also face the whammy of corporate CO2 emissions on commercial vehicle fleet sales.
If anyone really wants a V6 diesel pickup, they better get their skates on down to their VW or Mercedes dealer while there are some still available. By mid-summer the genre will be extinct.

If Suzuki have that as an issue, Land Rover/Jaguar might as well burn their factories down now.
I am not sure that's right.

Don't MB have the Smart brand and AM have / had a small branded car to bring down their overall average on emissions per car to allow them to continue with high output show stoppers?

But the Suzuki range is based on small cars like the Ignis and the Swift.
Whereas JLR dont really have any small models to offset their emissions from the multitude of 3.0L V6 and supercharged V8 models, SVO etc.

I'll be sorry to see the Jimmy go, as it was an interesting and affordable design that set it apart from so many droll 'identikit' / jelly mould / 'wan-ker' off-roaders.

Exactly. JLR only have gas-guzzlers and two very low volume electric vehicles and don't even have mild hybrid engines in their new Defender, a production example of which I have yet to see on UK roads.
