Seized the gearbox on our topper :banghead:

Am I correct in thinking once the castellasted nut and split pin are removed under the blade carrier then the blade carrier should be free to drop off? Its stubbornly refusing to let go.

Yes.
Mine were easier as the bottom seal had gone, lubing the shift.
They are heavy, be careful when they do move.
(y) Yes looks like a lump I certainly don't want to catch it falling! No really any room to swing a hammer it. I have tried prising it with a 6 ft steel bar and have even tried putting a car jack between the carrier and the frame to push it apart. I shall try swearing at it next.

It's a splined and tapered shaft. You can be a bit brutal with it.
When it releases it will drop off
Thanks When I went back to it again it with a heavier bar it did indeed drop off (y) Next question... 9.205.805 Comer Gearbox for a McConnel PT9 repair or replace? Think I have found a supplier of a new one for £180 and I bet the bearings alone will cost £50 each..

Open the box and look at the gears first.

No point replacing parts of 205-805 gear boxes. Parts are more than new box. We buy these in for our own machines we make. Don’t bother keeping parts at all.
