McCormick CX Gear selection troubles

Hi All,
I ve recently noticed a problem with our CX 100
(Non xtra shift) .It has become difficult to change gear or direction when the tractor is running at more than tickover revs, it feels like the clutch is not fully disengaging to allow smooth gear/direction changes.

I thought that there was air in the clutch slave cylinder so I bled it but no real improvement .
I ve noticed that the slave cylinder rod doesnt move very far. Measuring it ,it travels only 10mm. Should it move more than that? There seems to be at least another 5mm of travel in the slave cylinder. No leaks around master or slave cyl.

Any ideas what may be causing this?
Thanks

Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am tearing my hair out with our CX85 extrashift. It keeps on losing drive forwards and backwards,it is becoming useless for its main job balewrapping in field, which involves a lot of shunting,it also loses drive if you turn on the left hand indicater! Must be an electrical fault but don't know where to start. Both rear wheel rims are breaking up after only 3000 hrs of light use and the(replacement) injector pump is playing up as well.It is pretty much worthless as it is and I know I will end up with a big bill and be no further forward if I involve the dealer.

It sounds like an earth fault.

If you look underneath the brake pedals, where the master cylinder bolts to the bulkhead inside the cab u will see some earth wires on an M8 stud, check thats tight and good, on the outside of the cab bolted to the brake valve will be an earth wire, check thats on and ok and check all the earths on the battery terminals.

Under the cab in the back right hand corner by the pto leaver will be a stud with some earths on it and a braded wire going to the transmission check there all ok.

I have Never seen cracked rear wheel rims on a cx, plenty on mtx / mx tho.

what is the injector pump doing wrong ? stick 1 litre of engine oil into a full tank of fuel every now and again if the pump is sticking and going below tickover / surging.

Do you think it refusing to move and losing drive with the indicators is the same problem? The engine surges especially when flat out on the road,it will die back to 2000rpm then suddenly pick up.I will check all the earth leads tomorrow thank you.

it could be yes, does the N light flash when it wont move ?

how old is the tractor ? has it got the perkins electronic lift pump ?

Its an early extrashift 04,can always tell when its not going to move cos the fwd/rev light doesn't come on,there has always been a long delay 2-3 seconds before it moves anyway,N light sometimes flashes but not always. Not sure which pump it has you can probably tell from the age ?

04 should have the electronic lift pump, do you put the fuel filter in a plastic bowl and just turn the key on to blead it ? if so check the pump is working ok, it should make quite a loud constant buzzing sound they sometimes go quieter and dont pump well enough or i have had a few times a blockage on the feed pipe to the pump from the tank, crap gets stuck right by where the plasic fitting is pushed in on the end by the lift pump.

Has it ever had a clutch ? Or if so how many clutches ? You can adjust the rod on the slave cylinder to get more travel, make it longer.

Hi, yep it got a clutch before we bought it 3 years ago, 4500 Hours now. I ve adjusted the rod at the slave cylinder this evening and it seems to be driving better, I have some work lined up for it tomorrow so that'll be the test.I ll let you know how we get on.
Thanks for your help.

Hope someone can help. Case cx90 gear linkage or thats what i believe as its stuck in 3rd gear. It would appear the lever has gone a little to far forward and locked. Where should i lever to free it? Any help much appreciated
