He might work for that other lot on the way in.
Who incidentally used to sell universal (which I think may have been a belarus) before iirc orange then green, red now a different red. They all need to start somewhere, give the guys a chance as far as I'm concerned the more franchises and less multi depo single colour outlets on the doorstep the better.
I agree, just a correction. I had a universal for 10 years, gave good service, they were made in Roumania nothing to do with Belarus. Started at the bottom and worked up! Case, JD now, took me 40 years.

Yes the fendt has 2 ranges but they dont shift range on the go, so once your in high range its hydro right from zero to top speed
Afraid you're incorrect.....100% hydrostatic in start off >>IN BOTH Ranges......moves to 100% mechanical at top speed....swash plate travel in Fendts is also much greater..up to 45 degrees compared to DF(ZF sourced) that is only 25 degrees

But davey is trying i think to correctly point out that the transmission shifts 100% vario from standstill to full road speed with no mechanical splits. As you say 100% mechanical drive at full speed. It's a flawed system on heavy haulage as the tractor grinds to a halt on steep hills on the road. Then you have cars rammed up behind you while stopping having to shift into low, then again back into high.. The cvx 4 speed system seems more efficient, the vario is dead on hills.

The ZF/CVX -4 range system is better on hills as there is never more than 50% hydro input

I think your point " Our local dealer has become a McCormick dealer and want to stick with them as the service is excellent." speaks volumes.

There are several elements to buying a piece of equipment, not just the Colour or Name on the Bonnet.

1) Will it do the job ?
2) What will it cost to run ?
3) How long is the warranty ?
4) How good is the back-up and support ?
5) What is the second-hand value like, and how much will it depreciate ?

Your decision should be a combination of the above, not one in isolation.
