McCormick MC135 Work Lamps blowing uses

Hi,

The 4 top front work lamps and 2 top rear cab work lamps are all coming back through 1 fuse. From what I can see in the schematic this seems correct but I have melted a couple of 25 amp fuses. That’s 6 x 55w bulbs which equates to roughly 25 amps. Seems like a lot of current to be sending through 1 circuit?

Thanks

Constant 25 amps is a lot, try changing some of the lamps for led, you'll have more light and about a quarter or third of the current draw.

I was thinking of doing that alright. Still seems odd that this is how it was sent out of the factory with such a high draw on 1 fuse? New LED lamps sometime look out of place on an older machine too but better than having a fire!

The extra front middle worklamps should be wired through a relay as it’s on the limit as standard I have seen it plenty of times were extra lamps have been fitted and fed from original supply and usually burns the connector plug in the roof

My auto electrical engineer had the same problem trying to get the middle set of lights working so I ended up putting on the 4 led lights. Fantastic at night, I am going to replace the rear lights now as well.

Yep 6x55 = 330 watts divided by supply 12v =.27.5 amps draw on a 25 amp fuse, plus initial start up spike is too much .
I would suggest separating some of them onto a separate relay as already suggested , just need to piggy back the same switching voltage so they all work off the same switch.

Completely agree but it looks to me as though this is how the tractor came out of the factory! Unless there has been additional work done since that I’m not noticing
