Mccormick or landini?

Would be a good bet, but I've yet to see 1 for sale that hasnt got massive hours, which I suppose is testament to there reliability.

Don't worry about the hours. Have the head done up around 10k and just accept you may have money to spend on clutch damper or clutch packs at some stage. I know you may like the idea of trying something else but there is a reason why these early 2000's tractors from the main brands hold there value.

There quite possibly is but probably out of my budget, I'm looking at about 25-30 k, im not interested in finance.
It will only be used for destoning really and for towing the firewood processor around (I'm in construction and looking for something to give my body a rest for a month or 2 a year)
For that money i would suggest a Claas. We have two 696’s that are at 15000 hours and 11000 hours and for £ 25- 30,000 you’d be heading towards a reasonable Arion 620C or 630.

I considered class at first but a friend with 1 said nobody apart from main dealer wanted to work on it, don't know if it was for diagnostic reasons or parts supply but it put me off a little

I don’t know about no one wanting to work on them but it’s a John Deere engine on a MF transmission in most cases so i’d think someone outside of a dealership could fix it. As for parts i have never had a problem. They have a very good internet parts guide and if you ring before 4 pm the parts are ready the next morning.

That's a very good point, I've got to go see agars anyway as I'm going to sell the zetor 7245 and the Ford 8210 to part finance the new tractor.
I'd even be open to a big zetor, but I've never seen 1 above 110hp round here.
Hi I'm interested about your zetor 7245 what is your price?

For that sort of money you could get a decent 20 series jd or maybe even a 30 series with high(ish) hours. I’m sure the blue and red people will disagree but they’ll run rings around McCormick/landini and still be worth nearly what you paid for it when you’re done if you’re careful. Go for non-vario, non-electric spools…u can’t go wrong 👍

Friend has just had a x7.660.On paper it should be fine. Beta/ Cummins engine ,zf transmission, carraro axle. I know there's plenty of potentially troublesome parts but it was roughly twenty grand less the others he priced( not necessarily equivalent spec I know ) partly due to the dealer having it in stock at pre-increase price
We bought a x7.660 with loader last summer with 2,500 hrs, so far so good very impressed with the 6.7 Iveco engine, the tranny takes some getting used to but gets the job done. The big attraction was it was half the price of a comparable size M series JD With the same amount of hours.

I looked at buying a new Landini many years ago so always took interest in looking at any at the market etc.
I don't know about their mechanics but they really don't look like they age well.
I went to a dealer with the intention of buying one only a few years old and I'd never seen a newish tractor so corroded.
Landini paintwork is very poor, some of it looks like it hasn't been primed properly as it flakes off around the rusty areas and not a jot of primer to be seen. Next time you see one about or at a dealers / sale take a look, you'll see what I mean.

Only problem so far was the bolts holding the front end of the pick up hitch worked loose. Could have been nasty but they noticed a bit more play somewhere and found it early. I loaned him my socket Allen keys and some loctite and hasn't been an issue since
