It was pointed out to me on here before that hanging up a calf to clear fluid isn’t best practice.

If however you want to hang a calf up I put calving ropes on hind legs and use calving machine to lift.

We had one at home when they first came out (& a lamb one). I think they were used about 3 times before they were relegated to the ‘what did we buy that for’ pile in the back of the shed.

+1 : I bought one of these after reading this thread a few weeks ago hoping never to need it, well yesterday we had a terrible calving, calf's tongue had swollen extremely large and despite our efforts the calf couldn't get the glug by its own tongue, i kid you not a couple of pulls and it was like a plug out of a sink. Very impressed with the suction it creates !.

Have used one before and saved a couple

Easiest way to hang a calf when your on your own is to buy a vink calving jack and put the calving ropes on the back feet!

A man has pleaded guilty at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court to waste offences relating to a bonfire next to the electrical sub-station on the Circular Road in Newtownards, Co. Down.

Gareth Gill (51) of Abbot’s Walk, Newtownards pleaded guilty to two charges under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, for which he was fined £150 each and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy

On June 25, 2018, PSNI officers went to Gill’s yard, where they found a large amount of waste consisting of scrap wood, pallets, carpet and underlay.

Discussion with Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) officers confirmed the site...
