Class rakes won't drop as they are proven, mchales make good stuff but the troublesome part of a rake is the cam bearings and cam track , and I've seen the inside of mine twice in the last week, but mchales buy in this unit , I don't know who makes it for them , is it in any other rakes , probably is. I hope it's not the same one as in the Kuhn 7501 as it's made of chocolate .

Is the mchale narrower in the wheel axle as claas is wide on the road

Have you been over-revving it? It should not be run at over 400rpm, like most rakes. The forces on the cam track and cams apparently multiply by the square of the revs or some other stupendous rate as revs rise.
Also, the track being cast iron, eventually any sudden shocks may well crack tracks wide open. These particular issues are not brand specific, and obviously certain brands will be more durable and forgiving than others. Some will be easier to repair than others too.

Have you tried bending rake arms back and comparing, say, a Claas arm to a Kuhn arm? There's a massive difference in strength. A difference that may transfer more or less forces to the cam and cam track of one compared to another brand when an obstruction is hit.

Pull the stub axles off and machine them down and drill and thread a hole for the securing bolt. This will allow you to move the wheels in about 4 inches either side. You will need yo fabricate a bolt on plate to move the light and refelctor unit inward aswell.

And then water ballast the wheels as other wise the rake may well fall over!!!!
