Just when you start the bale?

If it is take the pressure off the core once you get going re pressure the door

If it's really thin knock the revs back and keep your speed up when starting a bale

They need to be fed well especially at the start if the bale it's a total waste of time trying to bale small thin rows with one unless you're really on the ball with driving one

A lot of grass getting inside the belts causing baler to jam up also lot of grass sticking at the panels of the baling chamber

I've had that a lot this year getting inside the belts these balers are VERY fussy with row shape and quantity. Always worse if chopping.

One morning I wrapped my belts into a knot half a dozen times to bale 100 bales in a bad go that someone else had raked up for me .
Short grass won't help either if it's really thin all you can do is get a bigger rake or as I said keep the pressure off and or revs down and forward speed as fast as possible till you get around 30cm of bale rolling then it'll be fine

This is the main reason I went to fixed chamber back in 2013, baling short stuff high clover content with a belt baler can be a f ing nightmare. Squealing belts, the thought of it sends shivers down my spine. Not going back to belts anytime soon, not when the mchale fixed chamber can produce the bale it does.

There was an update kit to fit early varios to help stop short grass going under the rollers found that helped a little. Also I found had to adjust back roller on rear door slightly to run more to left side as belts would alwaycross to the right when they overlapped on short crops. Then if I quickl stoped and over revved the pto speed as belts started to go would self align again if that helps.

As regards to the net in light crops found it worked better missing out one of the net tensions bars and feeding a little bit of grass in as net starts.

How are people getting on with the single belt machines ? we are on our 2nd v660 and have been really pleased with then although cutting grass from rollers at the end of the day is a bit of a drag !! single belt must help/stop that is there any down side ! Cheers

No but I know there was 2 sold and converted back within a season.

I thought it might be the shot but I think less might can get in but less can also get out and they'll be a bitch to scrape off the rollers

I remember when JD first brought the 900 series baler out with the big belts was a nightmare when that belt folded over on itself :banghead:

Yeah mine will realign itself once the bale is ejected but proving to be a nightmare to get bale started have also tried adjusting the roller at the back but no joy

I found in short crop had to weave and drive like there was no tomorrow no matter what the row size was ( not nice for the tractor or baler !!) but it’s the only way to get a good start on short stuf!!.
