Meanwhile in Wales...

Just need a dry day or two so I can get ours in , been saturated for months, snow today but tomorrow it will be running off fields as it melts , at least the biscuit thread has been a bit of a diversion

We seem to have had steady, very cold drizzle all day, rather than the torrential rain elsewhere. So much so that we still have snow lying in plenty of places.
I’m glad I went out in the snow moving fences yesterday now, to feed the one group of ewes that needed it, rather than leaving it until today.

They have plenty of water underfoot everywhere, but at least they’ve all got full bellies.(y)

Looks like another up and down week, then taking up next weekend...... maybe.

Good job it's cheap this year

Dealers that have driven the price of straw up for no good reason, plenty about, sedge yesterday you can buy it ex farm for £85 tonne, take another forum member near to me, he paid £130t for delivered in straw before xmas, no reason to have paid that as he could have easily got it delivered in for £105t/110t but sadly he got hood winked by a straw dealer into paying an over inflated price.

And yet it averaged £120/t ex farm in Stow sale the other week?

Are you buying by any chance GUTH? I certainly wish I had some spare to sell this year, but like many others, Spring crops were so thin & short, they wouldn’t have baled anyway.

If you're referring to me guth that was this month, and as I said I ordered it when you were quoting auction prices of £115 ex farm on here.

Got some spare straw here, and I will look after my regular buyers and neighbouring farmers who always have straw from me. There is always next year to think about, and neighbours are valued friends whom you try and look after.

If there is any spare to sell after that then any opportunist customers will be charged the higher going rate or it will just stay in the shed.
