seriously though, I do understand how bad excess wet weather is

people always assume Australia is always dry, in drought & farmers always want rain

I am on a flat alluvial floodplain here. I can honestly say that floods / excess water / rain at harvest etc have cost me far more money than dry weather

there was a time when I used to get anxiety attacks when it rained . . .

I have never had a complete crop loss due to dry weather ( but our systems are all geared to dry weather, conserving moisture, low inputs etc. If it is THAT dry, then at least our inputs are lower or even zero ), but I have had complete crop losses due to excess rain . . .
the worst was once we had the equivalent of our ANNUAL rainfall in November ( a few weeks before harvest ). Another time, I had 7 individual flood peaks one winter, ground didn't dry out till September ( spring ) . . .

hope things dry out for you soon

And there was me thinking we’d had a lot of rain yesterday (6mm)
Tbh it didn't rain that much here. It did rain for 18 hrs but that's nothing unusual. It was more that the ground was saturated from months of wet weather and couldn't take any more. Couple of very close calls with flooding down in the village. One young family in a bungalow had water within an inch and a half of their doorstep.
I went to help a neighbour who had water coming into his yard. Luckily it stopped coming before we had to take drastic action. We were considering knocking down a hedge and stone wall to allow the water to escape. As it happened though parking two telehandlers side by side diverted most of the water through a gateway and away from his yard and the nearby bungalow.
