Meat: a threat to our planet.

Words, that have no impact.

So, what next, a massive law suit against the BBC by the NFU for the negative impact it had on UK farming? I think not.

Means nothing unless it is spread all over every type of Social and Main media to ensure everyone that watched knows of this.

If not, it's a hollow victory.....
Well I've retweeted on Twitter, and posted it on TFF 👍

“In Britain we have some of the most climate-friendly systems of food production in the world. Emissions from UK beef production are already half that of the global average and our farmers are working to become net zero by 2040.

There you have it. Right there. The reason why you are all stuffed. Your national representative body thinks that it is a victory for your cows to be declared less destructive than foreign cows.
Net zero will grind you all down. You will all go to the wall being the sops for the supermarkets.
FFS wake up. There is nothing wrong our side of the farm gate. You either start to get that message across, or the last one out can shut the gate.

I'm more than a bit curious about the ruling, obv it's good that the nfu have got some traction here with Ofcom, as insignificant as it is when compared to the people who will have been swayed by the propaganda film. There was talk at the time that Liz Bonnin had touted it around various broadcasters and BBC were the only ones who bit. I'm therefore wondering how it all knits together in terms of the BBC's role in the actual programme. Are Ofcom basically saying that the BBC should've insisted on Bonnin filming extra bits giving the other side of the story and editing them in rather than just go with what she'd done in the first place?

As a piece of journalism it was pretty comical for those with a tiny bit of knowledge as so many of her points were just plain wrong or ignorant of facts. For me, her real crime was that she allowed herself to be influenced by certain people's views and had clearly never asked herself if what she'd swallowed would look so clever if held up to the light.

And she was doing so well right up until the mention of the word emissions......

Even the rainforest has emissions. Plough up grassland it has emissions, cut a tree down it creates emissions.

Probably the worse thing you can do for the planet? Have child, or 4

But who to do it ?
we keep hearing the same crap both on telly and rubbish like the NBA are proposing, don't see anyone high profile calling this crap out in a way that the public will see.
the apology above is all well and good but will it reach as many people as watched the program will there be an explanation broadcast as to why the program was wrong, will there hell as like
well I'll certainly make some hay from it!
(you're right though, our voice is lost)

Well this is good news and we should all give a great vote of thanks to the NFU who have stood up to the BBC and persisted in getting a good result. I will be surprised if a number of journalists do not pick this up as knocking the BBC is very much in fashion at the moment.

All of you who slag off the NFU should realise they are the only ones who have the people to look after all of our interests.
I'm delighted with the result and that they got it.
But I would point out I contribute several hundred quid a year for it. It isn't free.

I would be very happy to see the woman/production co/broadcaster sued for damages.
Words of chagrin won't hurt them........and I want to see them hurt as they hurt us.

It's worse than this though. It's the whole mindset. The AHDB did the same not so long ago. Issued a press release that they had scored a 'significant victory'. How ? By making a broadcaster change the statement "eating meat is the most destructive thing you can do" to "eating meat is one of the most destructive things you can do". If that's a victory, I would hate to be on the end of a defeat.
Is this what we pay our money for ? To continually be reactive, to complain, to defend ?

The NFU livestock committee will next week be discussing the NBA proposal to slap a tax on beef animals over 27 mths. I imagine they will attack it, if only to score points. The NFU need to realize that it is precisely because of their determination to present UK agriculture in general, and cows in particular, as destroyers of the planet that these proposals are coming along. Go around saying that cows are causing climate change and what do you expect ?

Don't sit on you hands.

Write to the BBC and make you're views 100% clear.

They have done damage to UK farming through being irresponsible, that has a cost.

They have undermined consumer confidence that long-term, could cost hundreds of millions is lost business.

They should pay, and unless we all make our point and find someone of the right profile to pick up the baton, we are nothing but conformists.

If they are attacked, they will attack back, so we need to ensure those that are not up to scratch get there act together.
