Meat free Bacon at Sainsbury..

I would hazard a guess that this drive for plant-based product is because if the meat component is removed the profit margin is much much higher than it would otherwise be. If you look at a horsemeat lasagne the actual meat component is virtually zero to begin with, just a snifter of it, the bulk is cream, cheese or pasta etc. Get rid of the animal meat- make more money??
Like, duh.

Ok ok so some folks don’t wanna eat meat, Not a problem, but why not cut the middle man and the processing out and eat some good quality fruit and veg instead?

im sure it’s gotta be better for the environment than the processed plant based bacon crap?
They do want to eat meat that why they try to buy stuff that tastes like meat then they can eat that and virtue signal

F-ing rogues, it’s like their advert for beetroot burgers being so healthy for the soil and much better for the environment. It’s all marketing and should be challenged and quickly.

Just seen that beetroot advert. Thing is, as you say it's marketing, it's not illegal, no point challenging it, that's where the NFU continue to get things so wrong; wasting time and money lodging complaints with BBC, ASA etc, completely pointless. Only way to respond is to put adverts out that promote the environmental credentials of a beef burger. Which is a bit difficult to do whilst the NFU remains utterly determined to blame cows for climate change.

Good ingredients processing factory. The feedstock is not really the point (except, as others have said, spuds have extremely low protein content so are a nonsense source. This factory is clearly more about producing processed starch derivatives).
