School caterers love mfm. Means more cheese and mash. Don't fight it. Withdraw your child from school lunches and send them with a packup. Make it clear to the governors, especially if you are in a rural area, the number of families working in agriculture and that you find their lies deeply offensive.

Surely the NFU will clamp down on this fabricated misinformation with a public display of damnation of such school lies.Oh well I can dream.
Seems that anyone can state any inaccuracies, these days, and as Trump said "It's all fake news".
Nothing ever seems to be done as regards challenging such things.

I'd love to know the carbon footprint, water requirements, pesticide usage and Amazon destruction related to SOYA production.

Soybeans are grown in a lot of countries, not just the Amazon and as I understand they aren't much different than any other crop.
They can be no/min till planted, add organic matter to the soil and have lots of different uses, from food to fuel.
I believe only a very small area is planted in the UK (if any) so it has become a convenient crop for UK ag to blame for current climate issues.

Saw this on facebook, someone's kids school is doing meat free Monday and this is the banner for it.
How can this be countered?

Suggest to the person who took the photo they ask that the publisher of that propaganda is clearly shown in the banner. The frame is hiding the information.

It should be attributable, and the Head Teacher and Governors should be asked to account for decisions made to show it to children. What sort of due diligence was behind decisions?

Utilise the fact filled TFF graphics.

A quick google search of “meat free Monday’s” shows that it is promoted by the Meat Free Monday’s Foundation, which is a registered charity.
The following comes with a health warning: only open if your blood pressure is under control!

It was launched by Paul McCartney and family in 2009.
If they’re a registered charity, are they obliged to publish accurate information and not mislead the public?

the NFU communications team will track it down easy enough, they can then get their education team to send along one of the schools speakers, some are on here
@kfpben
the chap doing the promotional videos, sorry can't remember his name.
Job sorted (y)
The original post was on the 'British Farming Forum on Facebook' page. Looking back at it, the chap posting it seems to be a pupil at the school, rather than a parent as I first thought. In North Shropshire by the looks too.

Are these figures true ? I thought livestock emissions accounted for about 3 %
If they are not true then the school needs reporting to the relevant bodies.
This is the 'Agricultural CO2 equivalent' graph from the 2007 IPPC report so a bit out of date.
Look closely at the EU graph (down the left hand side), not bad when you consider the EU feed 527 million hungry mouths 3 times a day:

854416

And now look at the EU figures for total CO2 equivalent from ALL sources. Note that enteric CO2 is only at 4.3% of total production, and that European agriculture has reduced it's total emissions by 20% between 1990 and 2015:

854418

What is education, if it's based on a lie?

My daughter came home from school last week & said their being taught Palm oil is good as it produces the most oil per acre, explained to her the damage it does, no they didn't learn any of that!
We are a household that try to avoid Palm oil so she's abit confused but the school must be right :banghead:
On a similar note I was talking to a government Agriculture adviser last week who was saying their being told high yielding dairy cows are better for the environment , the reason being more milk produced per acre.
I asked how long does the cow last because if she only does 3-4 lactations then more land is taken up by her replacements so doesn't necessarily mean it's more efficient or better for the environment.

It used to be a sin for Catholics to eat meat on a Friday but then there was always the Sunday joint to look forward to! Maybe a Bring Back the Sunday Joint campaign?

Isn't the Advertising Standards Authority meant to maintain standards in advertising? A clever lawyer ought to be able to do something there. Children get special protection. If these adverts cannot substantiate their claims, they would appear to be illegal.

This is my sons school, (the post is nothing to do with me), i have been in contact with the headmaster and catering manager and written 2 letters about meat free monday , last night i saw this and my son confirmed that it is in the queue for the dining hall. I have Provided actual figures from gov or recognized sources for all of the points and i have taken him to task on this and his take on the compelling health benefits of less meat and dairy.

I have invited him to our farm to see what happens and the technologies that are in agriculture and have chat about how the school can be in tune with its local environment.

I think that the poster was probably devised by the eco committee at school who wanted the school to do meat free monday , so the research has been straight from vegan websites i would think.
I asked the head to correct the misleading info with figures i supplied or other official ones and to make sure the kids have education on fake news and how educated students should challenge any info and investigate themselves rather than believing any old crap from vested interests.
