Medicine costs

That is not a route to go down with veterinary medicines.

We already have a shortage of new vets coming into Large animal practice, and screwing them down on veterinary meds will only in the long run hurt the farmer.
I agree fully with what you say,I think all the problems start with pet insurance as the small animal practice gets away with charging so much more that makes the job so much more lucrative and the large animal side is becoming a bit of a sideline,Mrs ff was quoted £89 per month for tablets ect for the house dog:facepalm: but the vet offered a 3 month prescription for £14 and advice to buy them online for about £40 for 3 months

I cringed when a jab of betamox cost about £6 for my dog in the vet once...

Yeah and very high costs for other meds too. Wouldn't be so bad if costs of vet services were cheaper but paid £60 call out charge recently and £296 for 2 hours 15 mins time on farm (not including med charges).
would certainly ask for a breakdown of the charges(if you didnt already)

i got pen and strep at 17 and ultrapenLA at 22

OK so I was slightly out with price but having checked invoices it's still high IMO.

I assume your not VAT registered?:scratchhead: I suspect most of the prices quoted on here will be ex. VAT, I know mine certainly are.

Yours still look like crazy dear prices though, even without the VAT.
Thanks yeah I wasn't VAT registered until recently. Call out £69 though...and we are only 20 mins from surgery [emoji85]

Paid £7.20/dose for rotavec. Vets were charging over £11 and were honest enough to say they couldn't compete with the price I got elsewhere. I pay direct debit with them which automatically gains 25% discount on vaccines. But I still check the statements like a hawk because what the admin staff say things will cost can sometimes be at odds with the statement. It never hurts to let them know you're checking things, without being rude about it.

Assume your vet wrote a prescription then?
