Melted 3 pin plug.

Smelt a Smokey smell, went to look and found the tumble drier had done this...

Now, do I just cut it off, replace the extension lead and go again or is there a bigger issue to look at? This the extension lead is probably 4/5years old.

Thanks

The issue is the fact the extension is poor quality, throw it away, either fit a socket closer to the drier or move the drier closer to a socket, those multi extensions may be fine for computers,TV's or audio equipment, but no good for something like a tumble drier.

Cut the plug off and replace.

Or at worst make an extension using something like this http://www.screwfix.com/p/masterplug-heavy-duty-rewirable-13a-1-gang-single-pole-socket-white/89675 with a piece of 1.5 flex and as short as you can get away with.

I'd hazard a guess that it hasn't been unplugged recently - the act of plugging/unplugging wipes the pin against the contact spring which helps to remove oxidation. Leaving stuff plugged in allows the oxides to build up leading to poor connections which get hot!

If you don't mind me saying so that looks like a cheap multi-socket extension that are designed for computers and such, a tumble drier is a big user of power, you need a better quality extension at least with only a single socket on the end.
