But do you pay extra to use the fella you do use via nfsco? Could you not just find someone through Internet? Just not sure what they offer as a service? I just drop them off at my local bloke £23 ewe & £3 lamb

That sounds quite a bit to me @Man_in_black. My firm give me a plastic box with a lid, its like a forklift box, maybe half a tonne or so. £70 to empty. Put 3 dead gimmers in there a month ago and dropped 7 old laying hens in there tonight, got a couple of lame ewes that I will kill for the dogs shortly and drop their skins and bags in. Doesn't fill up very quick at this time of year.

£14 ewe with my Nfsco collector.

£17 collected with ours, but discount on quantity.:(

DOLAV box is 32p/kg (£100 minimum) to empty, so cheaper to send decent sized ewes off individually. One collector told me that some will skin & gut before putting in the box, to save space/cost.

You are in Wales remember now @neilo ! Every penny a prisoner!
Around £16-17/ewe picked up I think? They take bags of lambs with no charge if there's 2 ewes aswell.

Chucked in the back whilst they're busy loading the ewes? Dumpy bag or feed sack?
No they take everything in themselves, 25kg feed bag full to the top, the odd lamb we've lost since which have been circa 16-20kg they havnt charged for either.. doesn't make much difference to them when there's a mountain of Holstein bull calves in their wagons.

My local hunt said they wouldn't take any.....

Aye it's a shame that so many have give up the flesh round. There will be one in your area that will though.

My "local" hunt is 45mins away. I've a couple of big wheelie bins I use as a dead box. Once full I put them in the stock trailer. May be less pleasant in summer though.
