Merkel has hours left to form a government

There is 200 years worth of coal still under ground in the UK. Maggie Thatcher knew energy would be an issue in the future so she shut the source down for when the country really needs it.
No, she just broke the NUM because we couldn't have an unelected Stalinist dictating to the rest of us.

There is at least 200 years worth of coal under ground in the UK, some estimates even double that figure. The thing is... that although the coal by volume is there, it is often very far underground and, even then, in such thin seams that for its recovery to be economical the unit price would have to increase by well over 1000%.

When Mrs T was in office, and after, near-surface coal in Australia and elsewhere of good quality and in seams often >20' thick made the continued, dangerous mining of our deep, thin seams irrational.

Its not the principle thats at fault just the implementation by a bunch of idiots who did not realise it could be exploited despite being warned at the time.

You could say the same with the promotion of Offshore Wind ... twice the cost of Onshore ... just so happens Offshore companies are run by Ex Mps.

Don't get me wrong I like renewables & this isnt the discussion I wanted to bring up on coal - was more interested in the way UK HMG is portrayed as Weak when Merkel cannot even form a government.

I think the general public have hit the nail on the head with Brexit ... if they can follow through with holding HMG to account then there MIGHT actually be a chance on getting this country back on the straight & narrow.

MSM is obvoiusly bought & paid for.

She is, in fact, the most responsible person on the planet for Brexit. And that is her big problem.
How on earth can she think, insisting on extended families of HER economic migrants being allowed free into Europe, is going to keep her in power?

She has been, and is one of the best stable and common sense leaders of our time! and the world stage will be a much poorer place when she retires.
she has at times been good but as the dominant force in europe she has pushed to far and too fast for many and as has been said allowing millions of migrants in has back fired on her now, I understand why the germans want young people but surely someone with her experiance should have foreseen the cultural problems. She is noe caught between a hard place and a rock

Actually I cannot understand how anyone "wants young people", certainly not by immigrating millions who also get old strangely enough

Rather than go to the general public & create an environment condusive to raising families all European governments have done the complete opposite not only creating massive hurdles in the form of over priced housing but also cultural negatives propagated by the extreme Left & feminists ... chief amongst that being an "Over Populated Planet"

Very interesting times ahead as all the chickens come home to roost.

its the drive for growth, but sooner or later growth will have to stop, at least in the form ofmaking things, the world has limited resources and cant go on growing population, people will have to do different things to earn their living and strangely I think it will be the lower skilled jobs that survive the tech world, such as caring for others health care needs and tourism and leisure
