Merlo boom problem

Hi everyone.
I'm having a problem with the boom function on a 32.6 on a 12 plate. The boom works fine when in, all functions with no problems. As soon as I push the boom out to any length, all functions work, but as soon as I try to lower the boom it struggles to go down when the degree indicator on the boom is above 25. When lowering, the boom reaches about 25 degrees, it then drops at the normal rate you would expect. Interestingly it does this at the same point on the lowering cycle even if the machine is parked on an incline or decline. As soon as you move to a level bit of ground without touching the joystick and the indicator goes below 25 degrees the boom then lowers without an issue.
Is there a sensor that measures the angle of the boom when up in the air?
I'm assuming its an electrical problem somewhere, just don't know where to start.
Any advice greatly received.

What are the cab mounts like? They wear and drop the cab on the wires from the joystick. We made new wires that went from the joystick directly to the solenoids. Originally they travel behind the seat then come back to near the armrest.

You have a couple of sensors inside the boom I suspect one is causing the issue

I bet that will be a boom out to check/see any problems.
Do you know where the sensors would be in the boom?
Both accessible without stripping much. Both on right when you look in. One fixed to extension ram pin locking bolt and the other a little further in the boom. Highly recommend P and D Engineering as your in South Wales.

Where do I look to check these wires? Having intermittent 3rd service problems at the moment and thought it might be this?

A 32.6 has individual valves for services 1-boom out 1-boom in and 1each for auxiliary services. Is it one direction that’s playing up? Or all joystick roller functions? The valves are a nightmare to get at and check. Wires are fractionally easier to access

It's just the one direction, up on the r/h roller switch. It's started working again for the moment , but it's been faulty for a couple of weeks now.

A year later and it's given up! Boom in/out went intermittent then all roller functions have stopped working. Have tried a spare joystick but it made no difference. Would a wiring problem be most likely do you think?

Could be the plugs on the board behind the seat, ours did something similar a few years ago, it was a bad connection, when it was doing it just hitting the steel circuit board cover behind the seat was enough to get it working again until we sorted the problem properly

I would be checking power supply to the joystick first then the inputs and outputs of the joystick ecu

Recently had similar problem on 2019 35.7. Sounds like the boom angle sensor needs changing

One of the wires going to the joystick has 12v there, but I'm struggling to get my head round how it all works!

usually 12v to the small circuit board inside. Then the roller switch works with 0.5v in one direction and 4.5 in the other with 2.5v being neutral position
