Metal chop saw

I know this should be in workshop, but thought more folks would see it here,

I'm after a metal chop saw that'll also cut at 45 degrees, they seem few and far between, any recommendations?

This is favourite so far it won't get used very often hence don't want to spend a fortune,

I just want something for cutting abit of box section and alloy so nothing to hardcore and not in use every day, what would you recommend?

Edit to say it needs to do 45degrees for tidy corners

Think the Evolution blades in the wood saws are only designed to go through the od nail or metal staple ,not for long term metal cutting ,its spins to fast ,,better with a dedicated metal chop saw

I agree, but it shows a picture with box section, it'll have a 12 month warrenty I might give it ago:nailbiting: ive got a power hacksaw for bigger stuff (y)

I'm lucky to have 3 phase I'll have to keep a eye out for a quality used one, in the meantime I'll test out a Micky mouse one:ROFLMAO:

We have an evolution one just stright cut its got a slow speed blade on it
the saw is great we use it for cutting box section and so on but not used even weekly . Just when we have a workshop job to do.
the blade life is disappointing on it, the orginal lasted a couple of small jobs and blunt we bought a getter grade one lasted maybe 3 times as long but still "seems" premature to be changing it that often . You can get them sharened but its quite pricey

Overall much better than high speed disc cutting , less noise , dust , and sparks + much strighter cuts then freehand 9inch grinder just wish i could get some better blade life.

That's good to know, I see there's a 3 year warrenty aswel, can you not fit a normal cutting disc or is there some weird idea where you can only use there blades?

No the blade fitting is not unique different makes will fit it , if I recalll correctly there was not as many options in term of the blade manufacturers who did the hole diameter of the evo saw but quite a few options are available

You could not fit a abrasive disc to it though as its speed would be to slow.

I have not worked out the cost vs 9 inch cutting discs its maybe not bad when you consider how quickly you can wear one of those out

Think if you want a true metal chop you might need one of theseView attachment 316558

I have one of these.

Very good saw, noisy though and wear gloves and goggles as it spits out hot fragments everywhere.
It wasn't much more than the Rage one but seems tougher.
It devours 50mm box section no bother.

Blade will last fine on box and small(ish) bars etc. What it doesn't like it cutting thicker plate or bar. Cut a few bits of 100mm by 12mm and that seemed hard on it

Last blade I had was about £50 odd .

Ive got a nearly identical saw made by SIP called the Ultimate IIRC. Brought it like you, because it was easy to cut lots of angles. I use it for everything now. Blades last OK, it does add up, but the cheapest place I've found blades is £30 off Amazon. Take your time, don't rush the cut, dribble a bit of oil on too and it lasts a lot longer.

How are you cutting your 100x12 ?, as if you lay it in flat it will eat blades for breakfast.
I've cut loads off 100x12 100x16 but cut it on edge, blades last ages.

Bought a Clarke one from machine mart, you can alter the angle on them with Allen keys and it shows the angle. Very pleased with it and cuts box on 45 degree accurately .
