Metal detecting land

Hi. Thank you first of all for reading this post. We are two ladies whom are seeking any land to metal detect on around Bedfordshire. We are both working professionals and both hold Enhanced CRB checks and are members of the NCMD. We have written letters to local farmers asking if there may be any land at all we could maybe detect on but a year on and we haven’t as yet been offered this opportunity. We have not knocked on any farmers doors as we both feel that this is an invasion of their privacy and are also a little shy of doing this. Our interest lies in finding out about the local history and what the finds could tell us about how the land has been used in years gone by, and to share this information with the landowner or farmer. We would treat any permission given with the utmost of respect, removing debris whilst detecting, sharing any finds of interest and/or value and keep in contact with the landowner/farmer as and when necessary. A contract could be supplied by ourselves outlining any agreements also. We live just outside Bedford in a village location. We would love to hear from you if you think that allowing us to metal detect on your land is something you may be able to assist us with?
Thank you
Cathy
