Metal detecting

Good evening,

I have looked over a few posts and can see that metal detectorists do not seem to be in favour with quite a lot of farmers.

I did come here to try and find permissions myself in north Hampshire (I took up the hobby a few weeks ago),

However as it doesn’t seem the best way for looking so I was wondering if any farmers could give me a bit of input or feedback that would maybe help me in the future trying to find suitable land.

Even if it’s a “don’t bother”, or “try this” or “offer that” or any stories of permissions you have granted and what was offered in return

All feedback would be good for me.

Hi dan I came on this forum with the same request.
I did find a farmer through a member of this forum and have had a great relationship with a local farmer in my location I am a welder fabricator by trade and offered these services free of charge and it has worked wonderfully ,I have had some great finds and these finds are now with the farmer he has also given me an in depth insight to the world of farming which was and is fascinating.
So I would say if you have anything to offer for exchange of a very precious offer of detecting there land then maybe that would be a good start hope you have good luck in your quest
