Residual weed control, can be applied to certain varieties post emergence up to 6" tall. Can be split dose pre/ post em. In the good old days used to apply with Gramoxone up to 20% crop emergence to remove initial flush.
Constituent of Secorex.

Thanks all - much appreciated. My education on potatoes continues.

Is this product very much a stable or is there other chemistry as well that can be used?

If you apply to to a settled ridge and get a nice rain to fix it after application, the full dose applied peri-em used to do enough most years.... for us.
Not sure how to replace the Grammoxone nowadays though if a good weed flush is present... is it "legal" to apply a squirt of Glyphosate as late as you dare pre-em of crop, and either mix in, or follow up with the Metribuzin?

No Be careful as the label reads as "all edible and non edible crops before sowing or planting"
but I am sure people have done it!

If you’ve got sow thistle, you’ll definitely want round up flex in the mix with your pre emergence but you have to be sure there is no cracking in the ridge. Metribuzin is a good product for our moss soils as we have a lot of amg. We use sencorex in the suspension fertiliser and then top up in the pre emergence.

I find Artist pre em is a very reliable product. do you not find clomazone a bit harsh ?
IIRC 0.1L/ha we use that on carrots as well, overlaps can get a bit of a hit. Having said that in really sandy parts of fields we had some damage this year and gapping. Now this could have been the aforementioned herbicide, or the velum or the 3L of amistar or that the 90mm of rain we had early may washed it down to the tubers.

I have once seen some spuds sprayed with a pint/acre of MCPA for catastrophic fat hen, they looked better after a fortnight too, but it doesn’t mean you should do it...

I think there is a recommendation for metribuzin on winter wheat now, as part of a black grass programme, along with the kitchen sink😜
They tell me a sniff of metribuzin added to Titus helps it along nicely, even on semi sensitive varieties like Markies.

Five nature-recovery projects spanning nearly 100,000ha across the West Midlands, Cambridgeshire, the Peak District, Norfolk and Somerset have been announced by the government and Natural England today (Thursday, May 26).

This is the equivalent in size to all 219 current National Reserves.

The aim of the projects is to deliver nature recovery at a landscape scale, helping to tackle biodiversity loss, climate change and improve public health and well-being.

All five projects will make a significant contribution towards the national delivery of the international commitment to protect at least 30% of land and...
