How do you calculate the rate of prduct needed per hectare if you wanted 75kg/H of N ? if using a 34.5 % product
Is that how you all do this , seems a bit complicated?75/.345 = 217.4kg/ha
100kg of product contains 34.5kg of N. Just use mathsHow do you calculate the rate of prduct needed per hectare if you wanted 75kg/H of N ? if using a 34.5 % product
75/.345 = 217.4kg/ha is this the way you do the maths?100kg of product contains 34.5kg of N. Just use maths
They say 75kg n/ha just after that?Be aware whether you are asking for the amount of product to spread or the actual quantity of N you wish to apply. These are two entirely different calculations. I suspect from the quantity stated that it is NOT the amount of product you are after but the amount of actual Nitrogen. Am I correct in that assumption?
Yes, I deleted my post. They say 75kg n/ha just after that?
Well you can do 75x 100 /34.5 if you really want.
But it's kg of N (75) / concentration of fert/100 (34.5/100).
Once you know that it's simple to adjust for different requirements or concentrations.
Eg. 60kg n with 46% urea is 60/.46
Yes. What could be simpler?75/.345 = 217.4kg/ha is this the way you do the maths?
Ok thanks for that replyWell you can do 75x 100 /34.5 if you really want.

It’s just IrishI never use Units/ ac if anything is going to confuse me it’s that

I used to work with a guy who’d gone all modern and worked in units/ha♂I never use Units/ ac if anything is going to confuse me it’s that

My father pestered me to put more phosphate fertiliser on for 45 years until very near his death at 91. The fact that I fairly regularly test the soil and apply fertiliser as necessary and have done all the calculations and application since 1975, when I was 17, and that when asked how much should be applied he had no answer, made no odds. I had 40 years of him banging on incessantly for six months of every year about fertiliser when he didn’t have the slightest clue as to what crops actually needed. In latter years I never told him anything other than it was 20-10-10, but even that didn’t stop him criticising. I had long come to the conclusion that he wasn’t actually commenting on the fertiliser but me. Nothing I did was ever right with him.i did not know my father had joined the forum. We have this conversation every year.
I’ve now succumbed and just say I’m putting a bag to the acre on and everyone’s happy!
