Ok guys got a 135 that's been run without engine oil, won't turn over, seized I presume? Can it be fixed or do I need to look for another one, bit gutted cos she has been here 40 years but totally my fault, haven't checked the oil in months.

there is strong chance engine has seized but 135's are prone to liners dropping
overhaul kits are competively priced and do the job properly . I am going to overhaul our dexta engine which has been here for 53 years and we are finishing farming but keeping the tractor

Hi the engine will rebuild no problems all parts can be obtained easily
Only issue is if block is damaged but until is stripped down that's an unknown.
A full engine kit isn't dear your crank might clean up or regrind and fit resized shell bearings a new crank isn't dear either
Best of luck

if you decide to fix engine .. do check the radiator inside and out for blockage and make sure the fan blade is clean and fit new thermostat
yes and while your at it remove all core plugs, and rear back plate, and water pump, pressure washer out the block till running clear, replace with new core plugs, new rear end plate, and also new fiber type gasket backing plate on water pump, this gets the 5hit out of the block, aids cooling, and stops hot spots, all of the above will be steel and rust from behind, they look ok from outside, but will rot away from the inside

Hi @REStracTORATION

Could I just ask, which brand of engine kit do you prefer, and do you think there is much to choose between the different brands/kits?
Hi used various kits over the years quality changes from time to time also
Using vap kits at the mo
But fitted plenty of sparex/emmark kits over the years
The gaskets in sparex kits fit better than vap but vap gaskets when you get them fitting seem alot better quality
Some issues make you laugh in-between the bouts of crying :p:ROFLMAO:

Which ever kit you get, make sure it does not have a black plasticy looking head gasket, with a mottled finish. It WILL fail in service. These gaskets were all the rage at one time, and were used by LR, Peugeot/ Citroen amongst others. We fitted many of them in the garage, and everyone failed after a short time, replacing them with a different material solved all the problems.
Believing that the problems would have been sorted after a couple of years, I, against my better judgement, fitted one to my leyland 253( same engine as a 135). The result was all the coolant on the ground after one seasons match ploughing! It didnt help that the failure happened at the first match of the next season, resulting in several matches being missed.
