I remember this one from new, working on the farm opposite here when I was a kid.
Very tempting, but I've got too many 'projects' lined up already!

Thanks for all the good will slight delay due to needing to finish a bit of combining and a screwed head gasket on drill tractor but she will run soon and will post a video of wakeup.
Nearly sort of but I got a bit distracted. The governor wouldn't let me play until I had got this weather tight. Nearly there so she may be nice enough soonHi Mikep, well it is a bit later now have you got it running yet? I look forward to that video it sounds an interesting gearbox conversion. Cheers
That's some mansion you're building there.Nearly sort of but I got a bit distracted. The governor wouldn't let me play until I had got this weather tight. Nearly there so she may be nice enough soonView attachment 602646
yes iirc primary gears of 1200 box designed to spin box faster to reduce torque. i knew of a 135 fitted with a 165m/p box and as the 135 has no final reduction hubs it had the opposite effectI remember carrying out a gearbox mod on a 1200 here over 35 years ago. Customer asked me to fit a gearbox he'd bought cheap from the local MF dealer. It was a brand new 12 speed 3 stick box for a 698 IIRC. The original box in the 1200 was shot and it did seem a good idea for the conversion initially.
The plan was to fit the new box in the 1200 with the three gear sticks up through the floor, doing away with the side leavers and linkage. However, upon mating this new box with the flywheel / engine, sadly we found the input shafts were shorter than the the original MP unit. This meant us having to make some spacers to step the flywheel / clutch away from the crank allowing it to position further into the gearbox housing to pick up drive. Then we discovered the flywheel caught on the inside of the housing due to being a larger unit and having to fit further inside to meet the shorter input shafts!.. (It was staring to become one of those jobs I'd wished I'd never began or got involved in!)... Ended up grinding away the inside bell housing to accept the larger flywheel... Finally got everything lined up and fitting well with the new three sticks positioned well, only to find that all the gear ratios were wrong, with the tractor now travelling at around 7 mph in top gear!!.... Total disaster.
The owner ended up sending it to a machinery dispersal sale and that was the last I saw of it...
It was a very disappointing end result to what at the time seemed a good idea...
That be interesting to see, a 40 mph 135yes iirc primary gears of 1200 box designed to spin box faster to reduce torque. i knew of a 135 fitted with a 165m/p box and as the 135 has no final reduction hubs it had the opposite effect
